Brian J. Nolan  (Edited by Simon Nolan, O. Carm.)
2023 | 183 p. | ISBN: 978-1-936742-33-2

This book is published in a year of anniversaries associated with Saint Thérèse of Lisieux: the 150th anniversary of her birth in 1873 and the 100th anniversary of her beatification by Pope Pius Xi in 1923.
A lifelong devotee of the French saint, Mr. Nolan expertly opens up new understandings of this young Carmelite nun to readers. His careful research provides a dear summary of various aspects of the life of Thérèse Martin.
The origins of this book are individual articles published in various journals of spirituality. As such, the reader may find it convenient to read the chapters as separate units.
The articles are grouped into 5 sections: Saint Thérèse and her siblings; Thérèse's spiritual teachings; Thérèse, Mary, the saints, and spiritual writers; Thérèse, Ireland and other places; Thérèse and the theatre.

Brian J. Nolan (1943-2018) lived and worked in Dublin, Ireland, and held degrees in theology from Trinity College Dublin and St Patrick's College Maynooth. He taught theology for a number of years at Dublin's Milltown Institute of Theology and Philosophy. He published extensively, particularly on the spirituality of Saint Thérèse of Lisieux but also on the English mystics and the Irish saints, in Spirituality. Mount Carmet, and Carmel in the World.
His son, Fr. Simon Nolan, O. Carm., who holds a doctoral degree from Rome's Pontifical Gregorian University and who has edited this volume, is Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy at Maynooth and Prior of Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church and Priory in Dublin.
